[2007.01.21] Jimmy Makes An Appearance at Your Child

January 21st, 2007

It was a case of art imitating life at the Harrow Campus last week - as Led Zeppelin guitar legend Jimmy Page arrived at the launch of a photographic exhibition by his daughter entitled Your Child.

The exhibition at London Gallery West, by Westminster alumnus Scarlet Page, features pictures of well-known musicians and celebrities with their children.

Scarlet, 35, who graduated from the University’s BA in Photography, Film and Video in 1993, is an accomplished photographer whose work has appeared in Kerrang!, Q Magazine and the Evening Standard. She has photographed some of the biggest names in music, from Robbie Williams to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Your Child, which is run in association with the charity Warchild, includes pictures of celebrities, including Sadie Frost, Keith Allen, Happy Mondays frontman Sean Ryder and Travis singer Fran Healy with their children.

Gallery curator Michael Maziere said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for an alumni to exhibit their work at the university that they began their career at. Westminster has an exceptional record of producing talented photographers, and we are delighted that Scarlet will be displaying her work here.”

The exhibition runs from January 26 until March 4 London Gallery West at Scarlet will appear in conversation with her former tutor, Andy Golding, head of photographic and digital media at Westminster on Tuesday February 7.

[2007.01.12] Album A No, But Plant’s Honeydrippers To Play Show

January 12th, 2007

The death of Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun in December put the kabosh on a new Honeydrippers album Robert Plant planned to record this year.

Plant tells Billboard.com that he and Ertegun began talking about the project — a follow-up to the platinum 1984 EP “Volume One,” which featured Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Nile Rodgers, among others — after Plant was part of a tribute to Ertegun last June at the 40th Annual Montreux Jazz Festival.

“We agreed to carry on and create a Honeydrippers thing a little bit later on in 2007,” says Plant. “He was suggesting material and stuff like that. I knew he was thrilled with the idea of it, and so was I.”
