[2007.01.29] The Rumor Mill Grinds Again

Legendary rockers Led Zeppelin are set to re-group after 22 years for a money-spinning stadium tour of America.

The three surviving members, singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones, plan to hit the road next summer.

[2007.01.21] Jimmy Makes An Appearance at Your Child

It was a case of art imitating life at the Harrow Campus last week - as Led Zeppelin guitar legend Jimmy Page arrived at the launch of a photographic exhibition by his daughter entitled Your Child.

The exhibition at London Gallery West, by Westminster alumnus Scarlet Page, features pictures of well-known musicians and celebrities with their children.

Scarlet, 35, who graduated from the University’s BA in Photography, Film and Video in 1993, is an accomplished photographer whose work has appeared in Kerrang!, Q Magazine and the Evening Standard. She has photographed some of the biggest names in music, from Robbie Williams to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Your Child, which is run in association with the charity Warchild, includes pictures of celebrities, including Sadie Frost, Keith Allen, Happy Mondays frontman Sean Ryder and Travis singer Fran Healy with their children.

Gallery curator Michael Maziere said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for an alumni to exhibit their work at the university that they began their career at. Westminster has an exceptional record of producing talented photographers, and we are delighted that Scarlet will be displaying her work here.”

The exhibition runs from January 26 until March 4 London Gallery West at Scarlet will appear in conversation with her former tutor, Andy Golding, head of photographic and digital media at Westminster on Tuesday February 7.

[2007.01.12] Album A No, But Plant’s Honeydrippers To Play Show

The death of Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun in December put the kabosh on a new Honeydrippers album Robert Plant planned to record this year.



Plant tells Billboard.com that he and Ertegun began talking about the project — a follow-up to the platinum 1984 EP “Volume One,” which featured Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Nile Rodgers, among others — after Plant was part of a tribute to Ertegun last June at the 40th Annual Montreux Jazz Festival.



“We agreed to carry on and create a Honeydrippers thing a little bit later on in 2007,” says Plant. “He was suggesting material and stuff like that. I knew he was thrilled with the idea of it, and so was I.”

[2007.01.11] Whole Lotta Love in Grammy Hall Of Fame

The Recording Academy announced the newest additions to its Grammy Hall Of Fame, adding 44 recordings to a timeless list, which will include Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love. The Hall Of Fame serves as a celebration and reminder of the triumphs and achievements of the recording arts. Selections are drawn from all major categories of music, acknowledging the diversity of musical expression for which The Recording Academy has become renowned.

[2007.01.09] Return Of The Honeydrippers At JB’s In Dudley

Following on from the success of the Jackie Jennings Appeal concert held before Christmas at The Kidderminster Town Hall, Robert Plant and The Honeydrippers have line-up a second fund raising concert, this time at JB’s in Dudley. Special guests will be Mike Sanchez with The Big Town Play Boys and is billed as An Evening of Rhythm And Blues. All profits will be donated to The Proton Effect Trust. Tickets are £15 each and are available from JB’s Dudley website.



JB’s in Dudley is England’s longest live music venue and holds up to 1000 people. Robert first played at JB’s with The Honeydrippers in 1982 and rehearsed at the club prior to last months Kidderminster show.

[2007.01.08] Memorial Service for Ahmet Ertegun

An official memorial service for Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun is planned for March 11th in New York. Expected to attend are many former/current Atlantic Records artists. The following night, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will also include a dedication honoring Ahmet, who passed away a few weeks ago. Perhaps some of the musicians in town for the memorial will also attend the Hall of Fame ceremony.

John Paul Jones was chosen by Eddie Kramer, John Bonham was chosen by Chad Smith, Jimmy Page was chosen by Nancy Wilson and Robert Plant was chosen by Alison Seabeck, MP.
